Ventriloquism is a unique form of entertainment that has been around since the early 19th century. Ventriloquists usually use some sort of puppet as the main element of their act. They will sit or stand on stage with the puppet on one side and converse with it as if it were a real puppet. The real talent in ventriloquism comes when the ventriloquist speaks but makes it look as though the sound is coming from the puppet. A technique known as "throwing your voice," the ventriloquist will speak without moving their lips, but move the mouth of the puppet.
